Message: Performer encourages being kind and accepting Bob Goodin helped foster a love of reading in his entertaining, educational and inspirational performance, Color Your World, at a recent Summerfest Wednesday Blockbuster. With the help of his magic dragon, Meihoo, he demonstrated how kids can use books to grow as individuals. Though he talked about different careers kids could consider, the more important message in his performance focused making fun of people, why you shouldn’t do it and what you can do if you are being made fun of. Meihoo was upset because kids made fun of him for being different. Bob asked the audience how they would deal with that, and some replied “walk away” from the situation. But Meihoo is a very stubborn dragon and didn’t take the kids’ advice. He sought revenge, so he threatened to take all the color out of the world, ultimately taking the color out of Bob’s prized coloring book. Bob and the audience was upset with Meihoo, but in the end they came to love the dragon. Though his character wasn’t real, the hurt and anger he illustrated is very real in the lives of kids. Bob hopes children make the world a better place by accepting the differences of others and not making fun of each other. Bob has been a full-time professional presenter for more than 20 years. http://www.tscpl.org/kids/comments/performer_encourages_being_kind_and_accepting/
