Explore the mysterious side of your library, with everybody else in the community! The Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library has been awarded a grant for a community-wide reading event called The Big Read. Find out what it's all about and what everyone will be reading this October.
Join Nate and Dave -- two common guys who work at the library -- as they discuss an uncommonly good book.
Nate: We’re discussing the book “Hunting Eichmann”, by Neal Bascomb, which focuses on the search for the Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann in the years following World War II. I didn’t know a lot of the details surrounding Eichmann, but it was almost like a Hollywood script.
Dave: I agree. This has to be one of the most intriguing manhunts of a Nazi criminal following World War II. He lived such a non-descript life in South America – really a meek existence, and kind of faded into the background. But the search for him never completely died, and one slip-up finally did him in.
So, you want to find out more about your house in Topeka. This blog will tell you about one of the resources to search in order to find out more about the history of your property and who has owned it through the years. Come with me on a field trip downtown to the Shawnee County Register of Deeds Office.
Place a request on a new DVD and add your name to the waiting list today!

If you are still going through Harry Potter withdrawal, you might want to check out The Tapestry series. The first book in the series The Hound of Rowan features Max. Max, like Harry is a seemingly normal boy who suddenly discovers he has magical powers and is sent to a special school to train those powers. In this school he attends classes that will help him become more familiar with his...

An area recycling company Asset LifeCyle delivered 5 huge boxes of electronic and/or technology junk. Teens were encouraged to remove the screws and take the items apart to see what was inside. They were frequently suprised to find colorful circuit boards and wiring inside. The possibilities...
