The 37th annual Friends of the Library Book Sale is September 19-21, at the Kansas Expocentre Agriculture Hall. Remember, Friday is a "members only" event, but we can take care of that in case you are not currently a member. Individual and family memberships will be sold at the door.
This event brings a lot of attention to our community by drawing attendees from Topeka, Shawnee County, surrounding areas in Kansas and book lovers from other states. In preparing for this big event, the Friends of the Library Public Relations committee has had a wonderful time planning the theme for this years event. Sometimes, one's passion overtakes logic and in doing so, our committee chose a theme that represented a lighthouse beacon showing the way towards a community event that is anxiously awaited for each year. Who would ever think of a lighthouse planted in the middle of a Kansas prairie surrounded by of all things, cattle and in the midst of the cattle appears a tiny sailboat. An interesting "oxymoron" wouldn't you say? Be on the lookout for the banners, posters, and bookmarks that are on display throughout our community.
This sale offers not only books, but records, CD's, videos and magazines as well as first editions, collectible volumes and historical books. Bring the children, as they will enjoy getting to shop for books for all age levels. Paperback lovers, this sale is for you--find all of the well known authors and book titles here, at very reasonable prices. Our motto is "More Books for Your Bucks", we certainly hope you will agree.
A Kansas lighthouse is lighting the way to the 2008 Friends of the Library Book Sale.
