Message: 2009/03/07 Teen Advisory Board Notes Kristin read the minutes from the February meeting. There was discussion about the Library Board’s decision to remove 4 books from the Health Neighborhood. Kristin read the background information concerning the request to remove the 4 books. 1st amendment was discussed. Letters from Kim Borgers to the TSCPL board president and from Gina to the TSCPL board were shared. The TAB was told they could write letters, write comments or send emails to the library as patrons of the library. They can’t write a letter from one board to another. TAB was asked to write blogs about their schools or other interesting information during Teen Tech Week. TSCPL staff would enter their blogs. Summer Reading activities were shared with the TAB. Lots of volunteering opportunities are available. Colton would like to have a program that teen writers could share their writing pieces and have them critiqued in a positive way. Perhaps they could be combined in a literary magazine. TAB would like to participate in the Exquisite Corpse program at the May 2 meeting. Sherry Best will lead this program. Ideas for Creative Culinary Creations – decorating cookies, puppy chow, cupcakes, fruit pizza, tacos, & no bake cookies. A 3 min. video was made of 4 TAB members playing the Wii. Lena will include this in a project for one of her classes. The gallery show “Girl Culture” was discussed and all members of TAB were invited to tour the gallery. Sherry explained the show to several of the members. There were mixed reviews. http://www.tscpl.org/teens/comments/2009_03_07/
