Message: Re-Gifters for the post holiday season I picked up this graphic novel because the title reminded me that the holiday season invariably leaves me with at least one "thing" that I want to regift to someone else. Of course, this turned out to be a story about martial arts instead, but it was enjoyable anyway! Jen Dik Seong, or Dixie to her friends, is a Korean-American teenager living in a rough part of Los Angeles's Koreatown. Her twin borthers are annoying and her parents are struggling to open a store. Her best friend Avril describes Dixie as "spiky" because her strong emotions make it hard to be her friend sometimes. Dixie studies the ancient Korean martial art of hapkido, both to honor her ancestry and to work out her angry feelings. Her huge crush on a blond California cutie, Adam, is distracting her during hapkido matches. In fact, it may cost her the upcoming community-wide championship, lose her a best friend and cause her to disappoint her family. This graphic novel is by Minx - great teen fiction that feature "stories that are visually exciting beyond words."
