Express Yourself @ your library—Teen Reading Log

Download and print your Express Yourself @ your library form for teens ages 12-18. Forms are also available in the library and on the bookmobiles. Summer reading programs for children and adults are available.

 Directions for Reading log: Goal is to earn 75 points to receive prize bag and your name in grand prize drawing. Get an extra entry to the grand prize drawing by earning 100 points. 2 points = attend a program | 3 points = submit a blog entry (200 + words) at ya@tscpl.org | 5 points = read an hour
Bring your Reading log to the library to collect your rewards. Bring your Reading log to the Youth Services Desk at the library or any bookmobile to collect your rewards. For more information, call the librarians at 785-580-4565.

Yu-Gi-Oh [12–18 years]
Sign up to duel other Yu-Gi-Oh players. Walk-ins are allowed if there are open slots. Registration required.

Second Lifers Club [13–17 years]
Meet us at Oz Island where you can change your physical image, animate objects, construct buildings and make new friends. If you cannot attend in “real life,” join us virtually. Teens between the ages of 13-17 with a library card can acquire an OzIslander account by filling out a form at http://www.tscpl.org/teens/section/second_lifers.

Journaling from the Ground Up – Alter Your Expressions [12–18 years]
Guest Artist Constance Ehrlich works with you to create a personalized journal by altering an existing book. Journals created during the workshop will be exhibited in the library during the summer. Registration required. Limit of 20.

Game Art & Design [13-18 years]
If you have ever wondered how video games are made, this workshop is for you. KU Art Professor Stacey Fox will be here to help you create a 2D game. This is a hands-on workshop.

Exquisite Corpse [11–18 years]
Learn to draw the surrealist way by letting your mind wander and seeing what you come up with. Gallery Director Sherry Best shows you some of the techniques used by some of the coolest and most bizarre artists of the 20th century. Finished drawings will go on display outside The Edge. Whether you enjoy photography as a job or a hobby, this roundtable discussion is for you. Members of the Topeka Professional Photographers Association discuss photography skills and techniques and the future of the art form.

Expressions in Chalk [12–18 years]
Express your thoughts on the performing arts in chalk drawings. Performing arts are defined as any art that people perform such as acting, writing or music. The top three drawings earn prizes. Participants are to be at the west exit door, next to the front main entrance of the library, by 6:00 pm.

Master the Art of Calligraphy [teens and adults]

Teen Movie – Step Up [12–18 years]
Tyler Gage is an angry troublemaker with one chance to follow his dream of dancing and to get out of his gritty neighborhood. Come feel the rhythm of summer and watch the ultimate hip-hop dance movie, Step Up.

Live Performance: The Pudd’n Pops [12–18 years]
The Pudd’n Pops are a fun band with a unique sound that must be heard to be believed! Listen to their upbeat alternative and funk music at www.myspace.com/thepuddnpops and then check them out live in concert at the library.

Machinima Movie Making [13–18 years]
Make a movie in a virtual world! Team members will create new script, avatars and environment, then film the action. Come be part of a team, led by KU Art Professor Stacey Fox, that’s creating a new machinima/video in the virtual world of Second Life. Prerequisite: Basic Second Life workshop.

Expressions in Glass [12–18 years]
Artist Dr. Doug Sheafor, owner of Albo Glass, demonstrates glass blowing techniques and discusses the craft of glass blowing. Some of his art and the tools of the craft will be on display.
