Ellsworth Goes to Schools

Teen author, Loretta Ellsworth  celebrated the Big Read with students at both Seaman and Highland Park high schools.

When asked what inspires her novels, she explained that different things trigger different books. She had read her favorite book, To Kill a Mockingbird, many times throughout her life. Her desire to meet Harper Lee inspired the In Search of Mockingbird.  On the other hand, after she read an article about shrouding women, not being familiar with the term shrouding, she began researching the topic—thus, inspiring The Shrouding Woman.  Her next book which will be published in 2010 will be about a teenager that needs a heart transplant.

Ellsworth told the students that her editors have her rewrite and revise.  But they never ask her to change the point of view.
