The Book of Luke by Jenny O'Connell
Emily’s etiquette-loving mother has raised her to be polite and kind in any situation. But when Emily is rejected from her dream college, forced to move halfway through her senior year, and abruptly dumped by her boyfriend, she decides that nice girls finish last. This nice girl is going to show everyone how mean she can be by taking on the popular bad boy, Luke Preston.
The chance to shed her nice attitude comes when her family moves back to their hometown and Emily reconnects with her former best friends. They are ready to take action against a cheating ex-boyfriend and decide to write a guide for boy improvement with the cheater as a guinea pig. Emily will pretend to date him and document his bad behavior for the guide. Things get messy when she starts to fall for Luke and finds herself betraying everyone.
The Book of Luke is a cute book with a fun premise. It is a very fast read with lots of funny and romantic situations. I picked it up because it has an adorable cover and I wanted something light to read, and I wasn’t disappointed. My only issue with the book was that Emily, the main character, was a bit too self-absorbed. At some points, I wanted to shake her and tell her to stop being so obnoxious. The other characters were good though, and I did enjoy the book.
