Old business

What is the status of the TAB profile showcase? It was reported by Jean that Lena has the information at her work station.  She will be getting the case up as time allows.

New business

Discussion of Election of officers. Jean emphasized that this is their board; the staff wants them to take leadership. Officers should lead the meetings; have input into the agenda; take the minutes and submit them in a timely manner. It was decided to make a list of potential officers. Members present with interest: Colleen, Colton, Paige, Jeff. Members absent who may have interest: Kristen & Brian.  Staff will make a ballot.  Election will be either May or June.
Motion was made to change the by-laws to allow non-Shawnee County teens to serve on the TAB.  (Shawnee County and adjoining area) Passed unanimously.
View successes:
Open Mic.  The group was favorably impressed with the performances. “awesome” “great” “spectacular” “amazing”  “Well that was a successful event.” “Way to go Jeff!” Board member Jeff Had read his poetry.
Second Life   Antoinette recognized a fellow Shawnee Heights High School student who won $50 for his avatar.  They were impressed with the Topeka Riverfront and To Kill a Mockingbird projects. Antoinette asked to hear about the Shawnee Heights Middle School Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland Project.  There was pride in her voice when she recognized Ms Sanders in the photos.  She expressed how” awesome” she is.
Big Read Loretta Ellsworth on flash drive- Colton talked of Ellsworth’s visit to Seaman and how her presentation spurred the idea of a teen writer’s group.  Colleen said that a lot of kids write at her school and would be interested.  Antoinette (who writes for the Cap.Journal) said she and some of her friends would be glad to do some editing for the writers group if the group was interested.
Up coming events ConnectNow, summer print off: Jean ran down the calendar of events for summer.  The members were wowed with the number of programs and the variety.  Antoinette recommended that if someone attended 50 or more programs “just give them the prize bag.  Can you imagine all the learning they would do?”  Colleen said, “writing, photography, cooking …”
Because of the time, it was moved that the David J’s floor plan be tabled and the meeting was adjourned.
