Over the last five years the Alice C. Sabatini Art Gallery has acquired more than 1,500 new and wonderful works of art. Imagine the difficulty in choosing which works to showcase and which to leave out!

Each week on our blog, we feature two Gallery volunteer picks. We invite you to read and weigh in on what your "friends and neighbors" think about various pieces in your collection-the oldest public art collection in Topeka! Or come see for yourself...

self portrait wallLauren Greenfield's Girl Culture exhibit leaves us with incredilble attendance numbers (3,311 to be exact) and fond memories. It was amazing to see so much excitement and support surrounding Girl Culture. Lauren expressed to me how grateful and excited she was to exhibit her photographs inside a library. One advantage of housing this exhibit inside the Topeka and Shawnee Public Library, is the diversity of visitors that come through our doors already on a day-to-day basis. Lauren...

We've had several people ask us recently about Girl Culture's mature content and what happens when a young person expresses interest in seeing the exhibit.

New customers receive a vast amount of printed information from us. I usually give gallery visitors a copy of ConnectNOW, our monthly (and soon to be bi-monthly magazine of events and resources), Library Policies and Procedures, information about joining the Friends of the Library, the Exhibit Schedule, the current exhibit...

The Sabatini Gallery has been on Twitter for about a month now, and, as flattering as it is to get followers from all over the planet, chances are they won't be stopping by too often, or benefitting much from our tweets.

But if you live here and/or within a day's drive of Topeka, are here on business, holiday or are performing at say, the Expocentre, and need a break from your stuffy tourbus and grumpy bandmates, try following us on Twitter. We update regularly about gallery...
