I recently began subscribing to Art Deadlines List, a collective site featuring monthly updates about national and international competitions in the visual arts. Sometimes there's even a writing competition thrown in.

This site lists opportunities for everyone regardless of age, level or ability. There's literally something for everyone, and it's never too late to submit your work for consideration—well, after the deadline would be too late—but I encourage you to try. All...

The clock is ticking, and if you want to participate, you need to reserve your space by March 30!

The Edible Book Festival asks you to interpret a book with food, similar to the way a sculptor shapes real-life objects out of clay. You can be literal, conceptual, obvious, thought-provoking, silly, serious—whatever—it's your book and your imagination at work.

In 2004, Fort Scott Community College established the Gordon Parks Celebration of Culture and Diversity, an annual event held each October celebrating the achievements and contributions of the internationally-known photographer, filmmaker, writer and musician. Parks wrote about his hometown of Fort Scott, KS in his autobiographical novel and subsequent film, The Learning Tree....
