Here is the latest batch of my thoughts on the books I have read (or listened to) lately:
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
I'd give this one 5 stars out of 5--it was that good! Listening to this book was a truly moving experience--I had tears streaming down my face as I was driving down the road listening to the last CD. Our narrator--Death--tells us how he became fascinated with Liesel Meminger, a.k.a. the Book Thief, after he first became aquainted with her on a train...

Ann recommends The Other Boleyn Girl by Phillipa Gregory
My favorite thing about this book is...although the novel was 961 pages, there was not one page unnecessarily written.

You know you have really gotten into a historical fiction novel when after reading it you are thinking in the dialect of the characters. Such a thing happened to me recently after reading an installment in the Scottish series written by inspirational author Liz Curtis Higgs. Higgs has taken the Biblical story of Jacob and reworked it into 18th Century Scotland, quite a challenge when you consider that Jacob had multiple wives.
