The Getty Research Institute seeks applications from established researchers as well as those at the pre- and postdoctoral levels who are interested in questions bearing upon the display of art and wish to be in residence at the Getty Research Institute or Getty Villa during the 2009/2010 academic year. The Display of Art will remain the theme for the Getty Research Institute in 2010/2011, and postdoctoral applicants are welcome to apply for both years.

The 700s are super broad and include not only the fine and graphic arts, but landscaping, architecture, music and SPORTS. Not that there's anything wrong with sports, they just aren't directly related to the work we do in the Sabatini Gallery. So, I won't be reporting on three-legged-racing, pancake flipping, hotdog eating, etc. Also, I made Melvil/Melville Dewey turn blue from all that counting and decimal decision-making.

Yes, we are in tough times. Yes, the unemployment rate is possibly heading for double-digit percentages. Yes, we need to cut back across the board, both individually as well as collectively.
But as an advocate for what I do (Associate Curator in an art museum), I felt distressed reading today's email from the American Association of Museums announcing a proposed amendment by Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) to prohibit any funds in the economic stimulus bill from going to museums,...
