Welcome to the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library

Descriptive Videos

image

Have you ever ventured into the Red Carpet Room at the library and wondered what that video collection on the wall was? Or maybe you asked why those films are not stored over in the Media Center with the other movies? Well, those VHS tapes are the library’s Descriptive Video Collection. Descriptive videos make watching movies and tv shows more accessible to people who are blind or visually impaired by offering extra narration of the major visual elements occurring in the videos. We have about 300 titles in the collection to checkout. So if you or someone you know might enjoy these films, stop by the Red Carpet Room across from the Check-out Desk to see what titles are available.
