MySpace and Facebook seem to be the social networking giants that people use to stay connected with their friends, family, and certain community groups. Some older users, however, are not satisfied by the features available on these websites and are turning to other social sites that are specifically designed for Boomers and older generations. Some of these sites move beyond just being a space for sharing ideas and keeping in touch with people. A few offer games and other activities to stimulate the brain while others offer numerous articles to read. Here is a compiled list of some social networking sites that are popular with Boomers and the older generations:
BOOMj.com- This website was designed for the Boomer and Jones Generations. Besides your typical blogging features and information sharing, this site also offers a variety of articles and online shopping.
Eons- This social networking site offers a variety of games to play while members blog and share their photos, videos, and stories with their friends.
Multiply- This site was not exactly designed for older adults but is popular with many Boomers.
ReZoom- ReZoom is a website that offers a variety of articles on topics such as entertainment, health, money, travel, and volunteering. If someone chooses to become a member on this site, they get free access to the ReZoom Community where they can create blogs to share pictures and other information with their friends.
