Surprise Cookies

• 1 3/4 cup flour
• 1/2 cup cocoa
• 1 tsp. soda
• 1/2 tsp. salt
• 1 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup shortening
• 2 eggs
• 1 tsp. vanilla

Combine shortening, eggs, flour, dry ingredients, and mix like pie dough. Make a little ball and stick a pecan half in the middle of the ball. Bake 8 minutes. Cut large marshmallow in half and place on each cookie. Put back in oven for about 3 minutes (don't leave so long the marshmallow falls off). Bake at 350 degrees. Makes approximately 5 dozen cookies.

Pour following chocolate frosting over marshmallow:

• 1 cup chocolate bits
• 1/2 cup cream or milk
• 1/4 cup butter

Boil 2 minutes then add powdered sugar till pouring consistency. Add a little mint flavoring to the chocolate frosting if desired.
