Forget your floppy or flash drive - try an open source site for all of your documents! Have you ever forgotten your disk or flash drive but need to store a document to use or edit later?  Try an online tool that you can access from any internet computer.  These are also called open source tools.  They allow users of multiple websites and platforms (for example Facebook and Gmail) to bring these two (or more) sites together and use them as one entity, or one through the other.  Why would you choose it?  Say you don’t have your own computer but you can access the internet at the library; you can access the documents online and store your documents within it.  You don’t need a home computer!  How would you use this at the library?  Say you can’t use your own hardware or software anywhere else but the library.  You could login to ZOHO (www.zoho.com).  Zoho allows use of a word processor, spreadsheet, meeting planner, instant messenger, personal wiki, and et cetera via the internet.  You could utilize any computer with internet access (not just at the library, but wherever you are) without worrying about losing content (think about being able to ignore or stop using disks or flash drives).  Google offers a similar service (I know the spreadsheet is compatible with Power Point because I’ve used it, and I know compatibility between software is integral to open source).  If you’re interested in Google’s product, it’s available through Gmail.  If you’ve got an account, it’s included in the package.  (www.gmail.com)  These two services are available for signup just as an email account is.  If you can master signing up for a free email service, then you can do this.  Using an open source service is as easy as signing into your account and accessing your documents.  Imagine the ease of use and you don’t have to worry about losing your documents.  Give it a try!
