Programs & Classes : Adult Programs

Adult Programs

Many Adult Programs are offered monthly or quarterly; they may require registration. For a current schedule and specific dates and times for this month’s events, read the library’s magazine connectnow or browse the Programs and Classes Calendar.

Children and teens are welcome at many of these programs, please read specific program descriptions for more information. Additional special programs each month may include parenting workshops, local history and research classes, writing workshops, topical film series, author visits, book discussions, craft classes, business and investment programs, musical performances, gallery artist’s talks and gallery show openings.

So Many Books, So Little Time Book Discussion
Discuss contemporary fiction and non-fiction titles. Books are provided. Check schedule for this month’s book title.

African American Writers Book Discussion
Discuss classic and contemporary fiction and non-fiction by African American writers. Check schedule for this month’s book title.

Sunday Afternoon with Kansas Authors
Local authors share their experience and read from their work. Authors are announced in advanced.

Literature with Lunch Book Discussion
Classics are more fun when you read them with friends! Check schedule for this month’s book title.

Beginning Genealogy Workshop
Get started in genealogy and learn how to use the print and online resources our library offers. Receive a pedigree chart and other helpful forms for keeping records as you research your family tree.

Macular Degeneration Internet Conference
This free Internet conference provides information and support for people who are affected by Macular Degeneration and similar retinal diseases (senior adults with low vision as well as their family and caregivers).

Trivia Night @ your library
Enter as a team of 5–8 friends, coworkers or family working together to answer 100
questions from 10 categories. Prizes will be awarded to the top trivia teams! This event is offered quarterly.

International Film Series
Recommended and award-winning international films are screened monthly. English-language subtitles are displayed when necessary.

Classic Film Series
Memorable and noteworthy films of the 1940’s-1960’s are screened monthly.

Topeka-wide First Friday ArtWalk
The Sabatini Gallery participates in this series of casual art receptions.

Researching your Business Idea
The success of your business plan depends greatly on the quality and credibility of the information you use to write it. In this workshop, you will learn how to research the information you need to compile a viable business plan. Sponsored by the Washburn Small Business Development Center.
