Welcome to the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library
Many Children and Family Programs are offered monthly; they may require registration. For a current schedule and specific dates and times for this month’s events, read the library’s magazine connectnow or browse the Programs and Classes Calendar. Additional special programs each month may include holiday programs, author visits, book discussions, craft, music, or animal programs.
Frequently offered programs for Children and Families at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library include:
Baby Bookworms [0–18 months]
Entertaining our youngest patrons with stories, songs and bounces.
Sneak, Peek & Read [18–24 months]
Bubbles and books, wiggles and songs! This is a program for toddlers and their favorite adult to enjoy together.
Tot Time [24–36 months]
Share stories, songs, and crafts with your favorite two-year-old. This program transitions children from lap-sitting to independent storytimes.
Preschool Storytime [3–5 years]
Stories, songs and activities that help children get ready for school and encourage a love of reading at an early age.
Pajama Storytime [3-5 years]
Wear your pajamas to the library! Bring along a fuzzy friend and your blanket for stories, songs and fingerplays.
4-H in the library [6–11 years]
Shawnee County 4-H members entertain you a with variety of exciting crafts and projects.
Speed Bumps [6–9 years]
Children and parents learn some helpful methods to navigate safely through the Internet.
Mad Science Club [9–11 years]
Join your friends in participating in exciting hands-on experiments and exploring the scientific method.
Homework Center [5–18 years]
Homework coaches help children with questions and assignments and teach them how to use the library’s resources.
Musical Storytime for Everybody [all ages]
Kyler sings, plays the guitar, and reads entertaining books for your family.

Our next Léeme Un Cuento (Spanish Storytime) will be Saturday, Oct 17 - 1:00-1:30 pm and Saturday, November 21 - 1:00-1:30 pm
in the library’s Story Zone near Youth Services.

When is the next baby bookworms?
Baby Bookworms occurs every Thursday at 9:30 am, 10:30 am, or 5:30 pm.

what are the dates and times for musical story time?
Musical Storytime for Everbody will be Friday Jan 15 at 10:00 am, Sunnyside up Saturday: Storytime with Kyler is Dec 26, Jan 9, 23 at 10:00 am.
Sing Move and Learn will be Wed. Jan 20, 6:30 pm. (for this one only you need to register 357-5171).
All of the programs mentioned above have music with Kyler.
