The words requests and holds and reserves are interchangeable. When you place a request, your name is put on a list of people waiting for an item in the Library's collection. When the item becomes available for you, we notify you by telephone or email you to pick up the item, notify you and place the item on a bookmobile for you, or mail the item to you.
Generally, you may place a hold on any item that checks out. Reference materials and many magazines and newspapers do not check out. Inside the Library, if an item is listed as checked in, ask for assistance in locating the item.
Outside the Library, you may reserve any item that allows holds. If you want an item with a checked in status as soon as possible, do not place it on hold. Call the Library during open hours and ask Library Staff locate the item. We will place the item at the Circulation Desk or on a Bookmobile for you to pickup.

Normally, reserves or holds remain active for six months.
If you are going out of town for an extended period, you can suspend your holds until after you return.
Please update your personal information. Call 785-580-4424 to change name, address or telephone information.
To check the status of your requested items or to cancel a request, go to My Account. Click on the Hold Requests option. If you want to cancel a request, click in the checkbox to the left of the item you wish to cancel. Click on Cancel Request.
