Circulation of Audio/Visual materials at the library increased 8.3% in 2009, including 641,900 checkouts of items from the Adult DVD and VHS collections.

Checkout limits raised for DVDs

Have you heard the good news?  

6 is the new 4

Beginning Tuesday, January 19, 2010, the checkout limit for both Entertainment and Non-Fiction DVDs was increased from four to six per customer.

Customers may check out a total of six Entertainment DVDs from the Adult and Youth collections, and a total of six Non-Fiction DVDs from the Adult and Youth collections.

New Shelving Improves Access to Media Collections

Non-fiction DVDs and VHS cassettes have been moved to the non-fiction stacks and interfiled with books on the same topics. The materials are shelved by Dewey Decimal numbers.

The audiobooks on CD, Playaways, new Audiobooks, and some audiobooks on cassette are shelved in the Media Center.

The library also maintains subject neighborhoods like Health, Travel, or Job and Career to improve access to library materials and make browsing for information more intuitive.
