Starting about this time of year, many of us crave Holiday Music. Listening to these hopeful tunes can be a great way to lessen seasonal stress. Such music also reminds us of past happy experiences we had during this time of year. We have a great demand for recorded holiday music here at the library, a demand that sometimes leaves little selection for the patron.
Thank goodness there are other ways to get your Christmas Carol “Fix”, and it’s free! You can tune into two FM radio stations, one out of Kansas City and one right here in Topeka. KMAJ-FM 107.7 has a good variety of tunes, as does KUDL 98.1 FM out of Kansas City. Of course, as we get closer to the big day, other stations will also play some great Christmas music. I especially like Country, Classical, Celtic, and Jazz holiday music. You will soon be hearing those types of holiday songs on WIBW Country 94.5 and KPR 91.5 FM. KPR (Kansas Public Radio) has Classical music during the day, jazz at night and on Saturday afternoon, and Celtic /Folk on the Sunday afternoon show, “Trail Mix”.
If you have access to the Internet or want to listen here in the library, try some of these websites offering holiday music:

www.kudl.com/
www.94country.com/
http://kansaspublicradio.org
94.5 Country’s website has a link to listen to continuous Country Christmas songs right now. All the websites also have great activity listings in case you want to celebrate the season at a concert or show.
One more site I’d like to recommend on the web is AccuRadio. They have several different choices for holiday listening—one is sure to be just what you want to hear:

If you have other stations or sites to recommend, please let us know about them in a comment. Happy holiday listening!
