image

The library is purchasing Blu-ray discs!

This exciting new collection will debut at your library on Monday, January 4, 2010.

The Blu-ray disc collection will be available for checkout through the DVD Dispenser.

About the DVD Dispenser

The DVD Dispenser contains popular and high demand materials for our customers. The DVD Dispenser has a two item limit. Express items checked out from the DVD Dispenser should be returned to the DVD Dispenser. The late fee on these high demand Express items is $1 per day.

Customers may check out any two items from the DVD Dispenser collections.

  • 3-day Blu-ray movies
  • 3-day Express DVDs movies
  • 14-day videogames including Wii, Playsation 2, Playstations 3 and XBOX 360

About the Blu-ray collection

A Blu-ray category will be added to the DVD Dispenser catalog and the format will also be noted on all of the Blu-ray titles.

Blu-ray titles also will be listed in the library's online catalog seperately from standard DVD films.  However, as is the case with video games, titles will not allow holds to be placed in the online catalog,  as they will only be available through the DVD Dispenser catalog.

Blu-ray discs cannot be played on regular DVD players.  They must be played on systems designated for Blu-ray discs.

Some of the titles purchased include:

  • Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
  •  Fast and Furious
  • Up
  • Terminator Salvation
  • G.I.Joe: The Rise of Cobra
  • District 9
  • The Hangover
  • G-Force
  • Monsters Vs. Aliens
  • Angels & Demons
  • Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
  • Star Trek
  • Inglourious Basterds
  • Paranormal Activity
  • Julie and Julia

Thad tells me a DVD category is something they’re working on but right now I don’t have anything more specific than that.  Thad can address this more specifically when he returns from vacation.
