Welcome to the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library
I love Google Reader! It keeps me up to date not just with my professional reading, but with great gems from all over the world of technology. Today, I discovered my latest time-wasting fascination via Wired.com: 8-Bit music. You can read the article here.
Basically, musicians and other sundry computer nerds (I use this term lovingly of course) are making music using sound processors found in classic video game systems (like Nintendo).
Dr. Zilog has created 8-bit covers of Animal Collective songs along with an 8-bit video.
Andy Baio has spearheaded a collective of artists who have painstakingly recreated the Miles Davis classic, Kind of Blue, called Kind of Bloop. There is even a website called 8bitcollective where people post their forays into this musical realm. One composition you can hear there is ast0r's version of John Coltrane's "Giant Steps."
Any fan of the music from your old school Nintendo will definitely get a kick out of these creative creations and recreations bringing freshness and originality to an old technology.

That’s really quite cool, in an 80’s sort of way. Thanks for sharing!
