We are surrounded by print. Large signs tell us where to drive, where to eat and what's on sale. We take for granted that children will learn how to navigate the printed word, but there are things we can do to help.
So if you had a pick-up load of techno-junk, what would you create?
That was the dilemma the after school crowd had during Teen Tech Week. Some 45 teens scavenged through old technology junk such as old cameras and CPUs -- all guaranteed not to work. They foraged through key caps, memory cards, wiring & cables.
Special thanks goes:

Let’s face it, change is hard. And when it involves changing others, it can be especially hard.
Switch is loaded with case studies of individuals, companies, and teams who are all trying to change something. Switch gives us a more precise look at how our minds and emotions play into accepting or resisting change and how we can work around those obstacles. Switch gave out-of-the-box solutions that amazed me.
I think this book would be great for counselors, teachers, parents, politicians, community leaders, doctors & nurses, and anyone who wants to generate a lasting change within themselves or in the world around them. What do you want to change?

The plot feels very familiar, trite, even. A dashing British agent seduces/is seduced by a beautiful KGB agent. The couple then pair up to thwart the evil machinations of the Russian leader who wants to overthrow the West.
At first blush, Red to Black, the first novel by Alex Dryden appears to be headed down this familiar road. Instead of a Cold War era Russian premier, this story is set in the present day of Vladimir Putin’s presidency. Instead of gadget wielding superspies, our heroes rely on “tradecraft,” and are realistically imperfect. Instead of a world domination plot involving lasers in space, Dryden conceives of a plot more devastating and far more realistic.
Apart from the deftly retooled thriller plot, the relationship of the spies, Finn and Anna, is really what sets this thriller apart from most in the genre.
