Message: R.E.A.D. Dogs Return This Summer! We are very fortunate to have the R.E.A.D. dogs and their handlers at the library this summer! Who are the R.E.A.D. dogs? They are registered therapy animals who volunteer with their handlers at schools, libraries and many other places as reading companions for children. The program started in 1999 in Salt Lake City by the Intermountain Therapy Animal Group. The R.E.A.D. teams are members of the Prairieland Visiting Animals Association and are registered with the Delta Society’s Pet Partner Program. The dogs are great listeners. They provide a relaxed, safe, and nonjudgmental setting for children. The R.E.A.D dogs and their handlers will be here this Sunday, June 7th, 2-3 pm for an open house in the Lingo Storyroom which is located in Youth Services. Dates the R.E.A.D. dogs will be at the library: Sundays - June 7, 14, 21, & 28 - 2-3 pm Sundays - July 5, 12, 19, & 26 - 2-3 pm http://www.tscpl.org/kids/comments/r.e.a.d._dogs_return/
