Children's Day/Book Day, also known as El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Día), is a celebration of children, families, and reading held annually on April 30. The celebration emphasizes the importance of literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Learn more about Día.
The April fiesta includes book displays, story times with musical games, poetry, and puppet shows; a carnival, animals , art activities, and games with prizes; poetry and art displays from area school children; a concession stand with free food; a raffle; and music and dancing.
Each year, Outreach Storyteller Judy Rohr helps our community celebrate El día de los niños/El día de los libros, Children's Day/Book Day on April 30th. This year, she was rewarded and acknowledged for her efforts with a $1000 Mora Award.

The 4th annual El Día de los Niños/El Día de los Libros at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library was celebrated on April 30, 2009, from 5-7:30 PM in Marvin Auditorium.
