The William Allen White Children’s Book Award was founded in 1952 by Emporia State University. It is the oldest state children’s book award in the country. Every school child in Kansas, who reads two books from the master list, is eligible to vote for the winner. Home schooled children vote at the public library. The list is divided into 2 age groups, 3-5th grade and 6-8th. You may read from one or both lists. Ballots are available at our library from March 15 to April 15. The books on the list are shelved together at the front of Children’s fiction. Let me know what you think of the books. Which ones are your favorites? Which ones are too boring?
