Welcome to the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library

Hear Newbery Medalist Neil Gaiman Read from His New Book

image

I haven’t worked in the Youth Services department for over 7 years but I still have to stop by and pick up a picture book or two so often. Picture books are my favorite. They are not just for toddlers they are for all ages. Every time I walk through that section I find a treasure, a story that makes me laugh, smile or one that makes me cry. Picture book art can be breathtaking! The next time you are in Youth Services stop by the Picture Book area (right behind the Story Zone) and find something for your child and something for yourself.

Today I was pleased to stumble on another Picture Book treasure, Neil Gaiman’s Blueberry Girl. In an enewsletter I receive for librarians from the publisher Harper Collins they say this “Neil Gaiman captivated us last year with his Newbery Medal–winning novel, The Graveyard Book, and we’re still in awe of him now because of his new (and bestselling!) picture book, Blueberry Girl.”

They gave a link to watch a video of his new book and it was fun to here the author read his own book. The book is so new it’s not even on our shelves yet but it should be any day now. Until then enjoy the book by viewing this clip. Blueberry Girl
