Welcome to the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library
Displays in the Rotunda
In April our Visions of the Universe: Four Centuries of Discovery display arrives from The American Library Association, the Space Telescope Science Institute and the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory: In preparation for that Shawnee County 4-Hers studied our Universe /Space theme and put together an amazing exhibit for all to enjoy. Five displays are in the Libraries Rotunda for the next few weeks.
Representing the nearly 400 4-H members enrolled in Shawnee County, teams assembled to create informational displays related to man’s curiosity, creativity, and eventual conquering the beginnings of our relationship of space. The 4-Hers studied the past knowledge of 400 years to create displays that represented projects that they can enroll in.
Some of those projects that are available to 4-H members are:
• Space Tech, which includes rocketry, astronomy, robotics and telescopes
• Animal Projects, which includes Dogs, Rabbits, and hand pets
• Entomology (bugs)
• Construction Zone, which includes all kinds of building material which can be from a kit, or of the 4-Her’s own design, and can be a building, a thing you can drive or any other construction and can be motorized.
Clothing, including a fun recycling project
• Fiber Arts
• Arts and Crafts
• Geology
• Photography
