When you become a Friend of the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, you are showing your pride for one of the community’s greatest institutions.
Friends support often comes in monetary form, but Friends also spend their valuable time volunteering here at the library or advocating the library’s mission to the greater community.
In return, Friends have an opportunity to get first dibs on used books and other merchandise at Friends night (the first night) of the Friends of the Library Book Sale. They receive a 10 percent discount on used books in the Chandler Booktique, and they receive connectnow, the library’s schedule of events, free in the mail. Plus, they receive the feeling of goodwill that their membership has supported programs at the library.
Join this diverse group of fun-loving library Friends by dropping by the Booktique inside the library, calling (785) 580-4445, emailing Mary Campbell at mcampbell@tscpl.org or downloading a membership form from www.tscpl.org/friends.
Among the programs supported by the Friends are guest speakers, book talks, gallery exhibits, films, concerts and educational programs.
Individuals with a passion for art can join a subgroup of the Friends called the Friends of Art. A significant portion of your membership goes toward the Alice C. Sabatini Gallery for acquisitions and programs.
If you are already a Friend, please feel free to post a comment below about what you like about the Friends and what you have gotten out of the “friendship.”
