Message: State Fairs What’s more American than going to a state fair? State fairs are known for their live music concerts, competitions and contests, If you are traveling later this summer, you can visit state fairs across the midwest. Indiana State Fair, Indianapolis, Indiana, August 7-23, 2009 - features 17 days of state fair fun, including celebrating “The Year of Tomatoes” Illinois State Fair, Springfield, Illinois, August 13-23, 2009 - features the Illinois racetrack, known as one of the fastest dirt tracks in the world, and each day of events with a unique theme. Missouri State Fair, Sedalia, Missouri, August 13-23, 2009 - features the Rainforest Experience LIVE show and a free concert by KANSAS. Iowa State Fair, Des Moines, Iowa, August 13-23, 2009 - features a “Mullet Contest” and more than 40 delectable items available on-a-stick. Nebraska State Fair, Lincoln, Nebraska, August 28-September 7, 2009 - features a concert line-up that is a mix of country, classic rock, and christian plus equine and livestock shows. Kansas State Fair, Hutchinson, Kansas, September 11-20, 2009 - features a celebrity goat milking contest and the Space Roller ride on the Midway.
