Melanie Gideon’s midlife crisis, honestly depicted in the pages of The Slippery Year, is hilarious. One day, she realizes that she has been sleepwalking through life. In her words, “I felt empty – an unrelenting, existential king of emptiness. By all markers I was living a happy enough existence, but somehow I wasn’t feeling it.” We can identify with that ah ha moment when we too question the meaning of our lives.
