Save the date! Back to School Solutions for Older Students is from 7:00-8:45 pm Wednesday May 6 in Marvin Auditorium.

Whether you lost your job or endured some other life change or are an older student who wants to sharpen your computer skills, returning to school could be looking pretty good right now, well, except for the price tag. Don’t let cost prevent you from pursuing your dreams.

Coming to Back to School Solutions for Older Students may just be the first step you take as you move towards professional success.

“It is no secret to all individuals from every walk of life to attain quality in their lives requires knowledge and education so they will be able to succeed and reach their goals,” said Nancy Johnson, executive director of Community Resources Council, which has partnered with the library to make this program possible.

A myriad of options for financing an education is available. Learn more during at “Back to School Solutions for Older Students,” which will be presented in a type of “college fair” style. Johnson said, despite the title, any person of any age with a desire to go back to school is welcome to attend and learn about topics ranging from debt-free financing to student loan options.

But, if you missed previous workshops, the library will be starting a new series of financial workshops in September. Topics range from helping people use online applications to social networking, from taxes to credit cards and payday loans.  Look for announcements in econnect, on tscpl.org (click Business on the left) or in upcoming editions of connectnow.

The series is sponsored by Community Resources Council, CoreFirst Bank & Trust, Housing & Credit Counseling, Inc., Kansas Gas Service, Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, City of Topeka Police Department Weed and Seed and Westar Energy.
