Complete Streets

image

Topeka streets have been a focus of attention lately due to their deteriorating condition. The Heartland Healthy Neighborhoods Coalition see future street construction and renovation as user friendly multipurpose networks. Communities across the country are supporting a movement to ensure that planners and engineers design and build streets that are safe for pedestrians whether young, old or disabled, for public transit riders or cyclists--in short all users, not just automobiles.  Complete streets emphasize safety and livability as well as the efficient flow of traffic.

Interested citizens are encouraged to attend a pep rally on Wednesday, June 24 at 6:30 PM at Landon Middle School Auditorium, 731 SW Fairlawn Road. The proposal has been endorsed by the Heartland Visioning Steering Committee. Learn more about Complete Streets at www.completestreets.org/   Attend the rally or express your opinions on this blog.
