Message: Visual Arts competitions I recently began subscribing to Art Deadlines List, a collective site featuring monthly updates about national and international competitions in the visual arts. Sometimes there’s even a writing competition thrown in. This site lists opportunities for everyone regardless of age, level or ability. There’s literally something for everyone, and it’s never too late to submit your work for consideration—well, after the deadline would be too late—but I encourage you to try. All those hours in your studio might win you a cash award or even acceptance into a museum’s permanent collection. Check out the JULY 2009 newsletter here. Below are two more that just came today. As a member of Art House Co-op, I’m participating in 1000 Photographers and The Sketchbook Project. They look really fun. You should enter, too! It’s easy! _____________________________________________________________________________________ CALL FOR 1000 PHOTOGRAPHERS Seeking 1,000 people from around the world to receive 1000 disposable cameras. Art House will mail the camera to you to document your life in 24 exposures and then you simply send back the prints. Not only will Art House have an exhibition in Atlanta, GA, Art House will also travel to the city with the most participants. So, tell your friends, mom, sister, cousin, or whoever to sign up. The exhibition will be home to 24,000 photographs of 1,000 people’s lives across the globe.
