At the risk of being too informal, I'm going directly from my notes. Thoughts are in no particular order.
- Web page/blog goals and mission: Bridge growing gaps in the art historical narrative due to art education being removed and/or phased out of school curriculum ... make art more accessible by removing stigmas, formality, addressing misconceptions and providing broad sources for additional information ... be hyper-local first and connect to art in a larger context at a close second ... interdisciplinary ... apply liberal studies concepts to art education.
- What the Topeka art community needs: a place for open discussion with flexible direction ... a place for people from broad art backgrounds (hobbyists to professionals) to learn from each other ... a place to find information about what's happening artistically in Topeka and Northest Kansas (what's happening within a day's drive) ... a place to discover new directions in art where the art historical past and future are explored simultaneously ...a place to duplicate what happens on a tour of the Sabatini Gallery so distant visitors will have access to the same information ... a place where a local will find something pertinent and usable and a non-local will find something new and valuable ... a "central square / centre ville" where people gather, talk, discuss ... one-stop spot for current art dialogue where all can meet: educators, students, collectors, artists, etc. ...
- What not to be: solely a calendar of events, generic news source, too structured conversationally.
- What makes the Sabatini Gallery unique: art in a public library ... art education proponents with leaders who encourage us to invest in digital outreach.
Please make suggestions. We would love to know what YOU want to see and have access to. We are HERE for YOU.
