The Printed Image 2, our national, biennial, juried graphics exhibit was established in 2006 and features emerging and veteran printmakers from across the United States using both traditional and breakthrough techniques. The Printed Image is hosted by both the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library and the Mulvane Art Museum at Washburn University, which allows for additional exhibition space and a chance to be partners in community art education. To get kids and adults familiar with the basics of the print process, we're offering Project Collograph, a hands-on opportunity to explore textures and surfaces here at the Sabatini and the inking and printing aspect at the Mulvane's Art Lab. Half will be constructed here and the second half will be completed there.

This year's juror is Roger Shimomura, a printmaker, painter, performance artist and University of Kansas Distinguished Professor who taught at KU's School of Fine Arts from 1969-2004. He has had more than 125 exhibitions of his prints and paintings and has been a visiting artist and lecturer at more than 200 universities, art schools and museums across the country.

Excerpt from the Directors' Statement:

"...We would like to express our gratitude to the Friends of the Library, Friends of the Mulvane Art Museum, Washburn University and the Kansas Arts Commission for sponsoring this exhibit and related programs."

Sherry Best, Director (Sabatini Gallery)
Cindi Morrison, Director (Mulvane Art Museum)
