Welcome to the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library
The Red Carpet Services brings the library to you through materials and customized services that accommodate your special needs. At the library, our materials and services are available to all walk-in patrons. Outside the library, we deliver to over 50 congregate living sites and homebound individuals.
Along with TSCPL staff, twenty seven, dedicated volunteers donated 968 hours to helping customers who received Red Carpet services in 2008. Our Red Carpet volunteers range in age from 18 to 85 and their combined experience is more than 100 years! They assist with homebound and site deliveries, clean equipment, label books, and help customers visiting the Red Carpet Department in the library.
Red Carpet volunteer Warren Kinnett says his favorite payback in volunteering is “knowing that my services are appreciated and saving the library time and money. I have volunteered for more than twenty years and have worked at several different jobs, and it never gets boring.”
Red Carpet volunteers are an essential part of the library’s outreach capability. For more information on Red Carpet Services or on how to join our volunteer crew, contact Kari Zimmerman, Volunteer Coordinator at 580-4490.
