Welcome to the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library
Highly esteemed library champions Larry Peters and Barbara Waterman-Peters were recently honored with two prestigious awards for their dedication and service to Washburn University and to the community.
The Lilla Day Monroe Award recognizes a woman selected by the alumni board of directors who has distinguished herself as a teacher, instructor, administrator or benefactor at the University and has given service to the community and her chosen profession. The Ritchie Award recognizes a man selected by the alumni board of directors who has distinguished himself as a teacher, instructor, administrator or benefactor at the University and has given service to the community and his chosen profession.
Larry and Barbara are members of the library’s Edward and Mary Wilder Society, which honors those who have made provisions for the library in their wills or estate plans. They have made generous gifts of art from their personal collections and have also donated original works of their own.
In cooperation with The Library Foundation, they helped launch the Larry Peters and Barbara Waterman-Peters Endowed Art Fund that benefits the collections of the library’s Alice C. Sabatini Gallery.
Congratulations Larry and Barbara for these well deserved honors.
