As part of our Adult Summer Reading Program our participants shared about the books they would recommend to other patrons. Maybe your next great read will be from one of their suggestions!
LINDA recommends The Leisure Seeker by Michael Zadoorian
My favorite thing about this book is…it’s first person narration. I’d recommend this book to other readers who like…a journey through past memories into the future. Take a couple married for 60 years from Santa Monica on Route 66. You go, Ella & John!
DONNA recommends High Noon by Nora Roberts
My favorite thing about this book is...(it) kept my attention to the end, (the) blend of romance and intrigue. I’d recommend this book to other readers who like…romance or mystery.
MICHELLE recommends Harvesting the Heart by Jodi Picoult
My favorite thing about this book is...she starts with the ending of the book but the changes the ending. She is a very vivid writer. She changes perspective each chapter so it kept it interesting. I’d recommend this book to other readers who like…family drama. It was really easy to relate (to) what the character was going through.
LESLEY recommends Case Histories by Kate Atkinson
My favorite thing about this book is…the structure of the book. Atkinson inroduces three sets of characters whose loved ones were victims of crime. She then introduces the detective, Jackson Brodie, who willl solve the crimes (all of which happened 10-28 years before). Chapters alternate from past to present. I’d recommend this book to other readers who like…mysteries, a British setting, unique characaters, an articulate and challenging vocabulary.
ANONYMOUS recommends The Traveler’s Gift by Andy Andrews
My favorite thing about this book is…that it is a self help book where you learn ways to improve your life, but it is written in an interesting story format. I’d recommend this book to other readers who like…self-help and fictional stories because it combines both in one book.
The library’s 2009 Adult Summer Reading program is over for this summer, but be sure to check back with us next summer for more summer reading excitement!
