The New Year of 1919 heralds more danger for Scotland Yard’s Inspector Ian Rutledge. The mental wounds from the Great War continue to take their toll on the inspector and now it appears he is being stalked. It’s New Orleans at the turn of the century and Storyville, the red light district, is flourishing. A wealthy gentleman is found murdered and the King of Storyville has his detective, Valentin St. Cyr, investigate. The creole detective must move between the worlds of the rich and the very poor as he tries to find the murderer. However, his investigation is hampered by someone powerful who will stop at nothing not even murder to stop him.
