Three new mysteries from the distant past

Day of the False King by Brad Geagley- Semerket, a clerk of Ramses IV, travels to Babylon on two missions, one professional, and the other personal. Not only must he secure a sacred Babylonian idol with supposed healing powers and bring it to the pharaoh, he must also find his wife and a boy who were banished to Babylon. Even before his arrival to the city, trouble has already begun with tales of murderous raids and rebellion. Nothing seems as it should as Semerket goes on a twisting journey of murder.  Semerket was also the detective in Year of the Hyenas.

Fatal Fashione by Karen Harper- The large ruffs that everyone was wearing at Queen Elizabeth’s I court required a great deal of starch.  After the Queen’s starcher is found murdered and a daughter of one of her advisors disappeared only to be found in a daze, Elizabeth decides to take matters at hand. The queen is not alone in her investigations and The Privy Plot Council made up of loyal followers is on the case as well. Fatal Fashione is part of a mystery series featuring Queen Elizabeth herself.

Sempster’s Tale by Margaret Frazer- London in the summer of 1450 could be a very dangerous place. A rebellion has spread along the countryside and is threatening London but that doesn’t stop the nun, Dame Frevisse. Her recently widowed cousin, the Duchess of Suffolk, needs help. Funeral vestments must be made which bring Frevisse into contact with Anne Blakhall, a sempster. Secrets abound in this story, including hidden gold and a love affair that could mean death. This is actually the latest book in the Dame Frevisse Medieval Mystery Series.
