Welcome to the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library

The sky is falling…

The world is drowning. The coasts have flooded and even the inlands are under water, only the mountains are left. Teddy Garnett, World War II veteran and avid reader, has started writing on day forty-one of the deluge, but for him the end maybe near. Hurt and unable to move he writes in the dark to leave any survivors a message. Even worse than the constant rain or the lack of sunshine, is the mysterious presence stirring under the surface. The first indication was the earthworms that completely covered his carport. Conqueror Worms by Brian Keene is an apocalyptic vision of a world spinning further into destruction. A clever and frightening story with Lovecraftian elements, this is the story of both the struggle to survive and maintain their humanity. Keene is a Bram Stoker Award winner and is the author of The Rising and City of the Dead, a two part series that is also truly terrifying. This is an author worth checking out.
