Welcome to the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library
I love the New Year's season because everyone reflects on the best stuff about the previous year. One of my favorite fellow librarians (my mother) shared this AWESOME compilation "Best of 2008" reading lists from any person, radio station, newspaper, or columnists that you might have thought of, and some you didn't even know existed! The list is from the Reader's Advisor Online blog and it links to many other websites that have posted their own Best of 2008 lists.
My reading challenge to you -- browse the lists until you find at least five books you are interested in reading. Post the titles that you think are most interesting in the comments so that other people can see your top picks. Don't forget to use our library catalog to search for the titles, and come check them out or request the books if they are already checked out.
Happy Reading in 2009!

I came across only 4 that I haven’t read and am very interested in. They are The Northern Clemency by Philip Hensher, The Plague of Doves by Louise Erdrich, The Veil of God by Kim Wilkins, and The End by Salvatore Scibona.
