Welcome to the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library
Just in time for Earth Day (April 22) and TSCPL's very own Go-Go-Green Fair (April 18), this week's project was submitted by Lisa C.
This project takes only a few minutes and won't break the bank. Local thrift stores have scads of old records or you might have some that have been collecting dust in your home.
What you need:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Place empty clay planter upside down on baking sheet. Center the record on top of upside down planter. Place in preheated oven for 5 minutes. (Time varies upon thickness of record. For very thin records, use less time.) Carefully take the baking sheet out of oven. Record should be metled around the planter and wavy. (Record will be pliable at this point, so you can bend or poinch it to create more waves.) Let cool on planter for about a minute. With hot pads, take record off and place on wax paper to completely cool. Fill with your favorite treats or treasures.

What a very cool and easy craft! Thank you so much for submitting your project, Lisa. If you're interested in creating more recycled crafts, check these books out:

If you're interested in sharing some of your own creations, fill out the Project Library form and tell us about your completed (or half completed) projects: meals that you've cooked, bread and cookies you've baked, quilts that you've sewn, volcanoes that you've erupted, papers you've written, babies you've named, pictures you've drawn, rooms that you've decorated, dogs that you've trained, etc. We want to know what did and didn't work for you. Send us some pictures of your work, as well as a brief description and the resources you used and we'll post your project here in the Project Library column to share with the TSCPL world.
