image

Readers of women’s fiction will find much to entertain them with new titles by Danielle Steel, Maeve Binchy, Barbara Delinsky , Kristin Hannah, and Adriana Trigiani.

Romance readers will be delighted by new work by Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Carl Weber. Mystery readers will be happy to find new installments in their favorite series. Robert Parker has a new Jesse Stone mystery, J.D. Robb has a new Eve Dallas mystery, and M.C. Beaton brings back Hamish Macbeth. Jacqueline Winspear reprises Maisie Dobbs and Dana Stabenow’s Kate Shugak makes a comeback.

Second opinion by PalmerThriller readers will also see the return of favorite characters. Linda Fairstein offers a new Alexandra Cooper thriller, James Patterson has a new Mike Bennett thriller, Alex Berenson brings back John Wells, Jack Higgins brings back Sean Dillon, T. Jefferson Parker has a new Charlie Hood thriller, and Tim Dorsey has a new Serge A. Storms thriller. In addition, Michael Palmer’s new medical thriller will please his fans, and Jefferson Bass offers another forensic thriller set at the Body Farm.

A couple of fiction titles that are not to be missed take their inspiration from classic literature. These include Dan Simmons’ fascinating foray into the world of Charles Dickens and Christopher Moore’s riff on King Lear.

In speculative fiction news, Patricia Briggs makes her hardcover debut with the latest entry in the Mercy Thompson series.

The Women by BoyleHistorical fiction titles this month revolve around the lives of remarkable women. Karen Harper imagines Shakespeare’s secret wife, Suzannah Dunn explores the life of Mary Tudor, and Robin Maxwell envisions Leonardo da Vinci’s mother. T.C. Boyle examines the life of Frank Lloyd Wright through his relationships with four women, and Kathryn Stockett remembers the civil rights movement through the experiences of three women.

In inspirational fiction, Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins offer their take on the Gospel of Luke. In addition, Terri Blackstock presents a thriller about a Nashville singer-songwriter.

The notable debuts this month: acclaimed memoirist Abraham Verghese weaves his experience as a physician into a sweeping cross-generational epic; a young Indian woman tackles issues of romance and independence in a cross-cultural version of chick-lit; a K-9 school dropout becomes a private eye, launching a new mystery series (yes, it’s narrated by a dog); and Joan Rivers (yes, that Joan Rivers) offers her first mystery novel.
