In speculative fiction news, Patricia Briggs makes her hardcover debut with the latest entry in the Mercy Thompson series.
Historical fiction titles this month revolve around the lives of remarkable women. Boyle examines the life of Frank Lloyd Wright through his relationships with four women, and Kathryn Stockett remembers the civil rights movement through the experiences of three women.
In inspirational fiction, Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins offer their take on the Gospel of Luke. In addition, Terri Blackstock presents a thriller about a Nashville singer-songwriter.
The notable debuts this month: acclaimed memoirist Abraham Verghese weaves his experience as a physician into a sweeping cross-generational epic; a young Indian woman tackles issues of romance and independence in a cross-cultural version of chick-lit; a K-9 school dropout becomes a private eye, launching a new mystery series (yes, it’s narrated by a dog); and Joan Rivers (yes, that Joan Rivers) offers her first mystery novel.
