Movie Madness

image

Just like hamburger and fries, movies and horror are a classic combination. So it’s not a big leap to bring the silver screen and horror to the short story format. Midnight Premiere edited by Tom Piccirilli is a collection of 18 short stories that combine movies or movie making with horror. These authors have explored this combination and come up with a variety of stories that are both creative and very different from each other.

Watching too many horror movies can have consequences in Ray Garton’s “Everything Must Go”. Then in Carl V. Dupre’s “Del Corozon’s Curse” a cursed screenplay leaves a trail of destruction. The final story, “Scream Queen” by Edward Gorman, is a coming of age story featuring a former scream queen. Other authors included in this collection are Jack Ketchum, John Shirley, and Gary A. Braunbeck.
