In the Mind’s Eye

image

The imagination can be a powerful thing in the world of Terahnar, where a few are born with the ability to imagine something and then for it to become real. Those with the power are called imagers, and it can mean making gold, poison- anything. Imagers are rare, but in the land of Solidar they are under the control of the Collegium of Imagisle, and the Collegium will decide the imagers fate.

Most imagers discover their talent at an early age but Rhennthyl had already been training as an artist when he finally realizes his skills. The Collegium of Imagisle is isolated, but that doesn’t mean Rhennthyl will be safe after he enters its halls. The training is dangerous, but it can be deadly outside of the Collegium as some of the young imagers have been killed. This is definitely not the life of an artist, and Rhennthyl is learning that his new life is much more dangerous than he could ever have imagined.

Imager: The First Book of the Imager Portfolio by L. E. Modesitt, Jr. is the first book in a new series. Though not an action packed story, this first book is a detailed account of the politics and the world of Terahnar. This book also introduces the intrigues and dangers that will follow in the series. Modesitt is the author of many popular series and books including the series Saga of Recluse.
