Bonnie and Clyde shot and killed, 1934
It was during the great depression that the infamous Bonnie and Clyde drove through Texas and as far north as Iowa, robbing, kidnapping, and sometimes murdering to evade arrest. There are conflicting stories about the pair, who met in 1930. It is known that they led prison breaks, took hostages then released them later unharmed, and escape police after daring shoot outs. During their crime spree, they captured the public’s imagination and the press followed their every move.
Though it was dangerous, Bonnie and Clyde were close to their families and would try to meet with them often. It was at one of these reunions that they were finally ambushed by the authorities. In the morning when the pair drove to an isolated location in Louisiana, they were surrounded and riddled with bullets. Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow have become legends with numerous books and movies about their short lives.
